Construction of last tunnel on China-Myanmar railway corridor successfully completed
A key tunnel on the China-Myanmar railway corridor was successfully drilled through Thursday, marking the last of the 35 tunnels to be completed after more than 1,700 days of hard work.
The 202-kilometer-long train route links the two cities of Dali and Lincang in southeast China's Yunnan Province. Construction began in 2015 and the project is expected to bring vitality to Lincang's economy, a remote city near the border of Myanmar which currently lacks railway access.
Travel time between Lincang and Kunming, the province’s capital city, will be reduced by more than half to three hours when the railroad is completed.
