Living in Yunnan’s provincial capital of Kunming (the city of eternal spring where the former site of the NSAU is located), we feel privileged to retrace the memories in the past 80 years.
When China's Anti-Japanese War broke out in 1937, Beijing University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University moved southward and merged to form Changsha Temporary University in Changsha, Hunan Province and later the National Southwestern Associated University in Kunming and Mengzi, Yunnan Province.
In the ensuing eight years, the NSAU, gathering a gallery of renowned cultural celebrities, cultivated numerous prominent academics, scholars, scientists and intellectuals such as Nobel laureate in physics Yang Zhenning and gave a strong pull to Yunnan local education.
